Personal Development For Career Change

If your dream is to grow and prosper and find the career of your dreams, you need to work on yourself.

You need to stretch your limits. You need to improve your skills, you need to expand your knowledge base. You need to become the best at what you do. For instance, you need to

  • Improve your communication skills and become a world class communicator.

  • You need to improve your negotiating skills.

  • You need to improve your problem solving skills.

  • You need work on your listening skills.

  • You need to improve your writing skills.

  • You need to improve your management and leadership skills.

Agreed that not all business leaders have all those skills highlighted above, but then they have the business acumen to recognize those skills in others and convince them to work with them or to  find people with the right skills and make them work for them. Good people skills are highly essential for success in any field. Also a thorough understanding of your main line of work is important...

You need to have your fingers on the pulse of your industry to be able to move and take appropriate actions in the correct symphony.

  • Stop wasting time on brain drain activities liking watching TV, surfing the internet, playing computer games, chatting and devote this time to your personal and business development goals.

  • Keep away from energy drainers... or people who make endless demands on you, or people who are too negative and can bring you down with their negative attitudes.

  • De-clutter your life... by eliminating and throwing away all unnecessary things or activities that compete for your attention.

  • De-stress your life by eliminating negativities such as anger, jealousy, hatred etc  and develop an intensely positive outlook with an "I can do it" attitude.

  • Eliminate brain killer music from your music library... this is very important today in the wide spread use of the MP3 players... listen to positive. relaxing or classical music, or even better listen to behavior modification tapes and cd's to work on your personal development goals.

  • Develop a healthy lifestyle, by incorporating a regular exercise routine in to your schedule.

  • Start eating healthy.

  • Start sleeping or relaxing well

  • Start taking good care of your appearance and dressing neatly at all times.

  • Start utilizing your commute time for personnel development listening to tapes and CD's or audio books that are useful.

To get successful at your dream career, your personal development is the no. 1 success factor. Invest in yourself - this will be the single most important investment of your life.

You can only move out of your current career in to your dream career after you grow in your skills, in your emotions, in your knowledge, in your intellect, in your abilities... yes, you need to grow out of your old career into your new career... Just like you grow out of old shoes into new shoes... So you need to develop personally to move forward. Else you will simply remain stagnated  right where you are.
